Sheila Burfield
Director and Lead Classroom Teacher


Sheila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from Concordia University, St. Paul.  She has previously worked in a daycare setting and as a Head Start teacher, and thoroughly enjoys the preschool setting.  Sheila is an avid walker and enjoys yoga, gardening, and kayaking.  Sheila and her husband live in Chatfield and together enjoy hiking, biking, and relaxing at home.  But their favorite activity is to spend time with their adult son and daughter who both live in different states.

 

Rebecca Schmidt
Classroom Teacher


Rebecca was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and attended college in New Ulm, MN.  She is a graduate of Martin Luther College (MLC) and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in May of 2016.  She is married to Daniel Schmidt who is currently a vicar at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, MN.  They are pet parents to two spunky rabbits and to one fish who isn't spunky, but he's a cool dude.  She enjoys reading novels and is very excited to be back in Minnesota teaching God's Word!


PollySue Bitter

Assistant Teacher

 

Polly grew up in Caledonia, WI. She and her husband, Pastor Jon Bitter, lived in NY and IL before moving to MN in 2000. Polly and Pastor Bitter have four grown sons.  Polly graduated from Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN). She previously worked at Resurrection Lutheran School (Rochester, MN) as a Preschool Teacher, Director, Grade 3 Teacher, and Teacher’s Aide.  Polly is excited to be a part of the Precious is the Child team. She spends her free time reading, sewing, gardening, and in various outdoor activities.

Jan Dale
Assistant Teacher


Jan graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul, with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education with an early childhood concentration.  Previously she has taught kindergarten, preschool, and has been employed as an in-school aid for a child with special needs.  She and her husband enjoy gardening and traveling to visit their three grown children.


 


Heather Meyer
Substitute Teacher


Heather grew up in Cedar Falls, IA where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  She and her husband moved to Rochester in 2001, where she began substitute teaching with the Rochester Public School system. Heather has two daughters who are 12 and 8 years old; both of them attended Precious Is the Child Preschool. Heather spends her free time gardening, reading and traveling with her family.
